There was no critical decline in the turnover of Chinese ports in January

An outbreak of a new coronavirus infection in China has not yet had a significant effect on cargo transshipment in Chinese ports, TASS reports with reference to SeaTrade Maritime according to the first statistics.

The Shandong port complex in northern China reported that its turnover in January amounted to 121 million tons, container throughput – 2.58 million TEU (+ 6.3% and + 6.4% year-on-year, respectively). According to preliminary data from the port operator of the Ningbo-Zhoushan port complex, the turnover in January will be 71.54 million tons and 2.67 million TEU containers, (-2.9% and -3.3% year-on-year, respectively).

The Guangzhou port in January expects to transship 38.75 million tons and 1.59 million TEU (-9.1% and -9.9% year-on-year).
